Good lord what have they done to COD 3? In an attempt to make the game profitable it seems they've raped it in every way shape and form to put it on last-gen consoles. Call of Duty 2 was only really good on the 360, so how in the hell are they going to make that same magic on the XBOX and PS2. Short answer, they didn't and it's not worth your time or money. Crippled online, horrible graphics, sound is lower quality, and everything just feels like a mess. Stay far far away.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled review.

Call of Duty 2 was by far my favorite XBOX 360 launch title so needless to say I was hyped to get my hands on CoD 3. After many hours online and off I’m happy to say that Treyarch has come through once again building and polishing upon the mammoth gaming experience that is the Call of Duty series. To sum things up I’ll bring out ye ol’ WWII FPS clich, “If you’re not sick of World War II First Person Shooters, then do yourself a favor and give this one a go.”

Call of Duty - We Know Drama.

One thing I was definitely concerned with this time around was graphics. While I’m not generally a graphics puttane, that’s French for whore, the whole idea of CoD 3 launching on so many old and new platforms left me worried that the visuals would take a major hit. Incredibly though the developers apparently have some magical asset and code management pipeline that allowed them to keep things intact. Essentially CoD 3 looks like CoD 2 but with more particles, better lighting, and much more things on screen at any one time. Add on the fact that the framerate never takes a hit and you’ve got a kinda-sorta-next-gen-tastic graphical experience that does the job and often leaves you in awe.

Grass is arguably the star of Call of Duty 3.

What’s great about this outing as well is that it’s not your typical World War II fare. CoD 3 focuses on France just after D-Day and up to the eventual freeing of Paris. As in the previous games you’ll take on the roll of several fighters from several nations which actually tell a coherent overall story. Gone are the static loading screens and in are the movie intermissions which further your understanding of what’s really going on. The overall constant immersion is definitely improved in this version leading to a greater sense of satisfaction for all you Nazi killers out there.
