After a ridiculous amount of hype, the sequel to last year’s Need For Speed Most Wanted is finally here and it brings with it a host of upgrades fans of the series are sure to appreciate. From updated graphics to crews and even a new babe cast, this one is sure to sell like hotcakes just like the past few versions.
Not the cops again...
In Carbon you’ll have access to three different car classes which are the Muscle, Exotic, and Tuner. EA has opened their wallets and filled these classes with a host of licensed cars that range from Chevy to Lamborghini. And not only are all the cars licensed but there are around 50 in total to choose from. Along with the classes there are several tiers of cars that get better and better forcing you to build up funds and ultimately upgrade.
Muscle car action.
When you start the single player game for the first time you’ll have to choose one of the classes and then you’ll be forced to play that class for the rest of the game. What’s cool is that each class presents a different career path so there is quite a bit of replayability in the relatively short 10 hour single player campaign.
After you’ve accumulated some funds you can head over to the garage and tweak things to your liking. For gear heads there’s the option to customize everything on your own and for those of us who don’t know all that much about cars you can buy a pre-made upgrade package to get you rolling. Besides just parts, there’s also an “Aftermarket” tab that allows you to make your vehicle your own. From body kits, to hoods, to flares, and more you can really make your cars tricked out visually as well as under the hood. What makes this even more appealing is the new “Auto-Sculpt” feature that allows you to alter the 3D models for all visual parts with a series of sliders. You can then even show off your creation online in all its glory, that is if you have an online enabled version like the XBOX 360 edition.
While progressing through the career mode you’ll get a larger dose of live-action FMVs this time around. While most of the time you’ll probably be screaming at them because you just want to race, there are some beautiful ladies to behold that are worth watching at least part of the time. In between FMVs you’ll be starting from the bottom and moving your way up the racing food chain. You start with a random car that you have to deal with until you either beat a boss and get a pink slip from the card selection or earn enough money to buy another vehicle.
