Another issue with the game is that it’s just too short. While what’s there is quality entertainment well worth the money of the average gamer, at $60 for a 6-7 hour game, most will have to figure out for themselves if it’s worth $10 an hour. Multiple difficulties and secrets are spread throughout the game, but for most TRL is about the adventure and that itself doesn’t last more than a few days. With only a few more levels the game could’ve reached the classic status of the original, but sadly it does not.

Finally, while the story does a good job providing entertaining reasons to go through the great levels, and even gives some humorous and well-acted dialogue, by the end of the game the tale drops out without giving a satisfying ending. Most likely, this is because, like too many games these days, the team was obviously expecting a TRL2, so they left the plot unfinished for that, which hurts TRL.

In the end though, despite the slight aggravation of the lack of conclusion and the horrible pain derived from the two motorcycle levels, the quality moments of Tomb Raider Legend are numerous and enjoyable to the point that one can’t help but to just fall for the overall product. There are definitely ways that TRL could’ve and should’ve been a much greater game then it turned out to be, but hopefully that’s where TRL2 will come along and perform. For now, TRL is at least worth a rental for everyone and for those who truly enjoy platforming action adventures it can be worth a buy as well.
