Though don’t be fooled by the actual end playtime as ten hours in gears is worth much more than something like an eighty hour grind-a-thon old school RPG. The attention to detail, the overall polish, the incredible ability for the cinematics to pull you into the action, and everything else listed in this article makes Gears the new high bar for action games and games in general.

There's so much happening on screen at once.
Then there’s the graphics. These graphics are so incredible that I honestly do not think that anything else on the market or coming to market this year will eclipse them. From the face and armor details to the debris to the Locusts everything looks amazing. In motion things come together in a magical way that is rarely seen in a game. The continuity of design along with the high polygon count and high resolution textures makes Gears what I think to be the most beautiful game ever made.
Ok so you know about the visuals but another treat to add to the basket is the incredible audio. The voice-overs are action movie quality, the sound effects do justice to every falling bullet, and the music seals the package together into a sound experience that rivals the visuals.

Turret aftermath.
Oh and there’s a full fledge multiplayer game built it as well, go figure. Between the amazing Co-op experience where you can join and exit games at will without ever seeing a game search screen to the 10 incredibly designed multiplayer deathmatch maps you’ll be playing Gears long after your last seconds of the single player game. Not only that but if you’ve been having a hard time getting through part of the single player you can let a friend pop in on Live and help you through it. Yeah it’s that amazing.
From the amazing experience that is the single player to the well balanced and extremely fun multiplayer to the visuals and beyond Gears is the best game of the year hands down.
