Gamer gives it 68%
The online portion of the game is exactly the same as the single player and requires the dreaded friend codes. There is absolutely no point to this mode and I recommend never even trying it. The stupid thing doesn’t even save things you find with your pal in this mode. What a waste.
The highlight of the game obviously is the environments and graphics. All of the fish look and animate incredibly well. Floating under a reef that blocks the sun only to emerge from a hole a bit later to find a bunch of ruins really brings the whole diving experience to life and thanks to the visuals it all feels very genuine and well constructed.
While the soundtrack might put some into a coma or at least make them feel like taking a very gay bubble bath, the music does go with the “soothing” “gameplay.” For those who would rather molest fish to another beat there is thankfully support for a custom soundtrack via an SD card. Like the rest of the game you’ll either love or hate the music but thankfully all the sound effects work quite nicely. From fish sounds to breathing, all the effects fit and work nicely together.
You’ll either love or hate this one, kind of like Animal Crossing. If you don’t need lofty goals or lots of action in your games then this might be an option but if any of the videos shown above put you to sleep you should steer clear.
Import Friendly?
All objectives and fish info is in Japanese but you can still enjoy the music and floating around underwater.
