Somebody hit the jackpot!
As a launch title Swing Golf Pangya takes full advantage of the Wii remotes feature as in the title you will be swinging the Wii remote like a golf club and I must say it does a damned good job of acting like one too. Although it is really, really highly recommended you play this game in a room that is wide and has a high ceiling. What also is rather nice is the fact that you can either use the Wii remote doing the golf swing motion, or for those who would like to sit down and relax you can play the game like a standard console game using the controller in a normal fashion. Personally it just puts you so much more into the game doing Wii remote controls though.

Holding the remote with 2 hands will prevent aerial attacks to your TV.
Those of you who have actually played golf you might feel right at home with these controls. One thing that takes a little getting used to is when performing the swing, you need to keep the Wii remote straight or it will effect how you hit the ball. Having it tilted right or left will cause a hook or slice, which causes the ball to fly off in either direction away from where you had originally aimed for. So before taking your shot a good thing to do is take a practice swing or two by using the B trigger. This will allow you to generally figure out what the optimal swing motion is to hit the sweet spot.
As with Minna no Golf, this games swing system works on the power bar and the impact zone. Hitting the zone right in the middle is called a PANGYA, which gives a slight power boost to the ball, and almost guarantees that the ball will fly where you aimed, unless wind blows it in another direction. Hitting a PANGYA also helps you gain bonus Pang which is the currency in the game used to buy various items, characters, and other things from the Pangya shop. There are also items that will help increase the strike zone that will make it easier to hit a PANGYA shot.

Right on the money!
Also like Minna no Golf there are power shots that your character can perform at certain times in the match. The power shot will slightly increase the range that you can hit your ball. The big difference between Minna no Golf`s and Swing Golf Pangya`s power shot is the fact that Pangya has different types of power shots. For example there is one called Tomahawk. This power shot will launch the ball slightly farther than a normal shot. On top of that it will stop exactly where it lands just like the pinpoint accuracy of a Tomahawk missile. But the difficult task is to perform these shots you must make a perfect pangya shot for it to activate.

The Tomahawk hits its mark. (taken from the pc version but same as Wii)
While making the shots across the course is great fun with the Wii remote, when it comes to putting though on the other hand there is a slight game design flaw. This flaw is shown when it comes to how the slope is displayed on the green during putting. As you can see in the image below the slope is represented by a dot on the squares of the green. Depending on the dots location within the squares represents the slope. For those who are not familiar with this, or golf itself might have a rather difficult time understanding how to read this. Also unlike the PC version which this screen shot is from there is not little hint window box in the upper left corner showing an explanation of what the dots represent. New players by all means please take a quick run through the tutorial before playing.

Tell me these dots aren’t hard to understand.
The game has a total of 8 player characters + 2 hidden ones. Normally you unlock the other player characters from beating story mode, or purchasing them in the shop. As a special thanks from Tecmo there is a special fortune telling that by answering questions, the caddy Dolf will match you up with the character that fits your personality. From there you are given a password and by entering this into the game you will unlock that character. Be careful before entering that password since this gift character is a one time deal. So choose wisely.
