While the little aliens known as Elebits may look friendly, theyre anything but and its your job to get their infestation under control. Armed with nothing more than some kind of ray gun from the future, your seemingly simple task of zapping the tiny creatures is complicated by obstructions, puzzles, and a wide variety of Elebit AI. With Wiimote and Nunchuk in hand, we venture into the unknown where nearly anything can be picked up and moved with a ray gun. That is if you have enough power.
Level 1 for your viewing pleasure.
Your first steps into Elebits are rather slow but very informative. Like a lot of the initial Wii offerings, Elebits walks you through the control scheme step by step, inch by inch. I guess this is good for all those first time gamers out there, but do we really need a couple hours of learning FPS controls on the Wii? Well at least these initial exercises are decently fun and more importantly skippable. What they boil down to essentially is that the Nunchuk moves you around and lets you duck and stand on your tip toes and the Wiimote does the rest. By the rest I mean you hold down the A button to shoot a beam from your ray gun and motion it around to move the beam on screen. Its all very intuitive and easy to get used to.

With training out of the way, its off to the first level of 29 in total which actually could be considered 30. Its a small room with a lot of clutter and quite a few Elebits. Every time you zap a blue Elebit it increases the meter on the top right of your screen. This meter is what stands between you and victory as every single levels only true goal is to raise this meter above a certain point. You start out at around 3000 and eventually make your way up to around the 70000 mark near the end of the game. As you progress youll also find many new and interesting Elebits of different colors that do the same thing but in different quantities.
I'm guessing these people have never played a game before.
Turn around and zap a yellow Elebit and the ray meter on the bottom left of your screen rises a bit. When this fills up you level up your ray gun allowing you to lift heavier objects. Every level starts you at ray gun level 1 and allows you to build up your power to a certain cap that hits its peak at 6 near the end of the game. At 1 you can lift up a magazine or maybe a small pot and at 6 you can lift up entire buildings. You may be thinking that starting over at level 1 power 30 times in a row might get a bit annoying, but the puzzles and obstacles that the game throws at you make you forget all about it. And just like the blue Elebits, there are other colors and shapes of Elebits that you meet along the way that raise this meter as well.
There are a lot of special hidden puzzles to complete.
At times youll be behind say a couch or a metal barrier that you cant quite lift and youll have to shoot the Elebits in the distance in order to be able to build up enough strength to progress. Youll also find a lot of objects that have big red buttons and tool tips that popup when you scroll over them. They usually have a big number showing, which is a point you have to reach in collecting Elebits in order to activate it. Some of these special objects only require you to push a button and others require some unique action to activate. Once activated, they spit out a ton of Elebits helping you progress to your goal.
