Controls
Now this is the one thing that makes the Wii version worth buying over the PS2 version. The controls take a little while to understand. Here’s the basics:
Wii Remote: Point at the screen/point out of the screen, point up to defend
Nunchuk: Wave to dash, using the analog stick to determine the direction you’ll dash, or use throws
C+waving controller: Jump, wave again to stay in the air
C+tilting nunchuk up or down: Raise or lower altitude while flying
A: Normal attacks
B: Normal energy attacks
Z: Charge up
1: Transform
2: Switch character
Down on D-pad: Defend
Blast 2 and Ultimate Blast attacks or done by holding Z and B, and buy doing certain motions with the remote and/or nunchuk. Most require moving the cursor out of the screen in a direction and bringing it back on the screen. Then there are different variations of the kamehameha attack, which require moving the remote backward and then moving it forward (both while pointing at the screen). Finally there are special “Rush” attacks, which tend to require waving the nunchuk a few times (it says twice in the game, but I always wave it more…) then after you move the remote forward, the character will then rush towards the opponent and, if they make contact, a cut scene special attack will occur.
In the end, it should take no more than an hour or two to get used to the controls in the game, after that it’s a blast to play, and if you know the motions the characters use for their special attacks you might find yourself mimicking them and it will actually do the attack in-game. I love doing the kamehameha or the destructo disk…
