Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Heroes Review

SkooBoi gives it 86%

Naruto Narutimate Portable ~ Mugenjo no Maki is every Naruto’s fans dream encased in plastic. They didn’t cut in corners in the presentation and have kept the production-values high. The single-player alone makes the experience worth it, completing both modes will take any earnest player a nice 10 hours. Not to mention that the fighting is actually incredibly fun and doesn’t get bland as other fighters seem to. So even without a human opponent, the game can be enjoyed. I highly recommend switching the AI difficulty to the highest as things start getting hectic and as I call, “extraordinary.”

Being a Naruto game, you are presented with the problems of understanding the story and objectives. But the gameplay is pretty much linear in all aspects and is presented in a very Point A to Point B line. You won’t be getting lost, but if you do have trouble for whatever reason, there’s a FAQ that can be of assistance to your cause. There are a few spots in the game where you need full-literacy like when you are given a quiz in the Mugenjou mode. Actually, I doubt you'd ever answer the quizzes correctly, and what makes it worse is that they're frequent. Though there's no punishment for getting them wrong.

Pros
  • Incredibly fun gameplay
  • Voice-acting
  • Animations and pace is excellent
  • An intuitive control system, easy for all ages
Cons
  • Bland dungeon-based single player
  • More super-moves needed
  • Not enough stages
