Metal Gear Acid Review

SkooBoi gives it 84%

Sound: With a nod to the other Metal Gear games, the game stays true to the sound portion and has up-beat music for your stealth expeditions. Even the weapon cards remain true and sound the same as their console counterparts.

The music follows strong with every situation you're in. If you've been spotted then the alarm sounds and the music segues into some more pumping music as you try to escape. But if you are sneaking around, the music is soft, like your footsteps.

Multiplayer: Although the Japanese version of the game didn't include a multiplayer mode. The US version does. In this mode, you can choose the deck you wish to choose and battle against one other person.

Although this may sound fun, it isn't a superb experience. It's similar to a game of chess without any consequences for your opponent if they take too long to end their turn. The link battles take place in a VR setting and each player will control two characters.

The basic objective of the mode is to collect a set of discs which are dropped from the guard.

3 ways to win the match:
  • Kill the guards and collect three discs. Then finish by going to the finishing tile.
  • Kill your opposition a certain amount of times.
  • Survive the time limit with the most discs.
Another thing to note is that in this mode, you no longer have the all omniscient eye and can only see whatever is in your range of view. Also frustating is that there is no option to customize which deck of cards you will use when battling against your opponent.

Conclusion:
Although the multiplayer mode isn't worth trying out, the single-player mode more than makes up for it. There is a lot of replayability for those who wish to complete their card collection or those who just wish for some turn-based snake fun.
