Getting ready to use a spell.
Sadly though while the combat is extremely well crafted, the level design is not. Every single level is a dungeon of around 7 floors. Each floor is a maze that knows nothing other than right angles. I guess it’s nice that every level is somewhat randomly generated but then again it all looks the same after awhile. This setup does make the camera easy to use though as walls disappear when they’re in front of you. You can of course hold down the right shoulder button to block and center the camera but most of the time you won’t.

Invisible walls aid the camera.
On the bottom or top floor of every dungeon is a boss that is both unique and requires some strategy. Most of the bosses really like to charge and move towards you quickly while their little followers poke at you. Some are really tough and killed me quite a few times while others were pushovers. Once the boss is killed you can use your teleport item to head back to the staging area where you’ll be able to equip a newly unlocked spell. You can only equip and unequip things via your chest in the middle of the staging area. The chest is also where you save. There’s also a vendor who will sell you a few healing potions and a trader who will trade things you already have for other things.

The tiny map.
The graphics are decent for the PSP although there is always fog about 20 feet in front of you obstructing your view. The sound is very generic and not worth a second thought.
So all in all the combat system is great but the level design and length are terrible. It’s like a tech demo for a final game.
Import Friendly?
Yep. That is unless you want to read the stupid story and the names of items and weapons.
