Tokobot Review

SkooBoi gives it 81%

Long long ago, there lived an upmost advanced civilization on the world called Moritari. But eventually the civilization perished leaving behind their greatest technologies. With no successor to the technology, everything was left to become ruins many thousands of years later. The new civilization that inherits the extraordinary power isn't nearly as advanced, their Karukuri are steam-powered. This differs very much from the Karukuri of the past which run on free-energy, thus the future Karukuri are inferior. Karukuri is the titled given to all robotics in general.

Tokobot, there are those that love it and those that hate it. I agree with both sides of the field on this one, there are areas that frustate me and then there are the areas in the game that makes me love the game. From the beautiful introduction story told in a storybook fashion, to the detailed environments that are brightly lit and fit well with the game's image. But then there are the odd screw-ups in the game that are bound to frustate even the most patient of players.

Catapult transformation(taken from Official Website)

This is Tecmo's first venturing onto the PSP console, and their decision to make a platformer in this way was a great first game. Tokobot offers platforming gameplay with puzzles that will keep you thinking. Action elements are also synthesized into the gameplay to keep the players thinking fast and acting fast as well.

Tokobots are the monkey-like Karukuri that the main character has stumbled upon while excavating an ancient ruin. The bots take a liking to him and begin to follow him around, and mostly only him. Nobody knows what these bots really are and it is up to the player to reveal the secrets of these machines and why they are so special.

Bolt, the boy that can control the Tokobots at will.

Bolt is the name of the main character, and with his special ability to manipulate the Tokobots at will, you will excavate many more ruins and encounter thieves and an ongoing plot against your superiors. The game offers some of the best platforming on the PSP and that isn't all that it offers.
