Jeanne D'Arc Review

Jeanne and her allies.
The English army is controlled by the young King Henry the 6th, and the once hero now evil wizard Bedford. King Henry the 6th was a kind and peaceful ruler until being possessed by the demon lord that was summoned by the wizard Bedford. It seems that the once hero Bedford has his own agenda for England and France by serving the demon lord that now controls young King Henry the 6th.

The protagonists of this story.
While unlike final fantasy tactics with the job system, each character in Jeanne d`Arc has there own specific class. While this might be a let down for those who loved the Final Fantasy Tactics series, it works surprisingly well. Also a new feature introduced in the game is the fact that skills are found or created instead of gained from leveling up. The skill stones are used to equip your character with a variety of skills ranging from attack skills, character stats buffs, to magic spells. These skill stones are regulated by level requirements though. As your character increases in levels they will be able to equip more stones in their skill slots. Due to the amount of customization that can be done with the skill stones, it adds an interesting twist to how you can decide to use the characters in game. For example a character who you know will be up in the frontlines you might want to equip them with the defensive bonus skill stone supported by HP up and attack power up.
Later on in the game you will be able to combine your extra skill stones to create new ones by feeding them to a frog that follows you in your journey. For those of you who have played Rogue Galaxy this frog character will be a familiar face. This was a rather pleasant surprise to see that the Level5 team has an attachment to their characters.

By feeding this little guy skill stones
new and more powerful ones can be created!
The battle system of the game is a rather refreshing spin on the standard formula. While it keeps most of the standard rules related to the grid based tactical combat found in SRPGs like FF Tactics, it adds 2 interesting features which are the Burning Site and Combination Guard system.
The Burning Site system is when a player character attacks an enemy a ring of fire will appear on the opposite side of the enemy. This is called a Burning Site. These Burning Sites are used to boost your attack power. Also if you can plan out the placement of the enemies and your own soldiers you can transfer the burning sites in a chain like pattern. The Burning Sites are very important when it comes to taking down the bosses or stronger enemies.
