Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories Review

(Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories for Playstation 2)
Gamer gives it 89%

On the technical side of things, Vice City Stories towers over Liberty City Stories. The draw distance has been greatly increased, textures and models look better, and pop-in rarely occurs. All of this is showcased when you fly around the city. You even get your own private helicopter to move around town in. Not only is this fun, but the PSP never stutters or loses a significant amount of FPS when doing it. Also on the subject of vehicles, the new jet skis are just about the most fun you’ll have in a vehicle the time around. From just roaming around the open waters to competing with up to six players over WiFi, you’ll love every second you’re riding one of them.

Oh S***!

Completely new to the series is the ability to build and empire by taking over and running businesses. Essentially it’s better than The Godfather’s version but not quite as good as Scarface’s. Once you take over a business you can either dump money into them or even run missions to increase their monetary output. While this all sounds great, the actual missions involved are pretty repetitive and boring.

Violent mayhem is the name of the game.

In the sound department GTA: VCS over delivers. It is most likely the best one to date in a GTA game and that’s saying a lot. From the radio shows, to the actual music soundtrack everything is either a great listen or absolutely hilarious.

Yes, he's in the game.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories is another GTA added on to and upgraded. If you like GTA then you will like this game. If you’re tired of the series then maybe you should sit this one out.
