Every Extend Extra Review

“Every Extend Extra” might sound like a strange name for a video game but it actually describes the unique PSP title well as you’ll see later. This game actually began as a freeware PC title known as “Every Extend” developed by a Japanese university student who calls himself “Omega”. It wasn’t long until Q Entertainment discovered this great and simple game to add to their series of “qb label” titles next to Meteos and Lumines.

At first glance at the screenshots, Every Extend Extra (“EEE”) looks like some graphics demo designed to show off a mix of bizarre shapes and colours but underneath all that is actually a very fun game. The Japanese site describes EEE as a “drive through a barrage of light and sound” but I would probably put this one in the action puzzle genre.

The idea of the game is simple. You control a little machine that you can blow up at the tap of a button and anything within its radius will be destroyed creating more explosions. By blowing up your little machine at the right time, you can create chain explosions and the bigger the chain, the greater your score.

Various powerups help you boost your score.

Of course, there are a few things to watch out for to make the game more interesting and first of all, you don’t have an infinite supply of machines. The number of machines you have available is displayed in the bottom corner under “stock” and naturally, the number decreases as you blow up your machine. However, you can “extend” your stock by achieving a certain amount of points. Stock isn’t the only thing to keep an eye on however as you only have a limited amount of time to finish each stage although you can add a few more seconds onto it by blowing up the right objects.
