God of War II Review

Gamer gives it 92%

If you loved the original God of War, then you should definitely grab this day one, but if the first one didn’t float your boat then the sequel won’t change your mind. While there are improvements and quite a few changes, this GoW is a sequel to the core offering 15 hours of largely the same action. That being said, it’s still some of the best action ever to grace a console, but it’s the same nevertheless. So lets take on the role of Kratos once more and see how good revenge really feels.

Incredible but short Pegasus gameplay.

GoW’s best feature by far is the ability to blend action and story into one big helping of awesome. If you’re like me and you hate how most games cut between cutscenes and action all the time, then both GoW’s are a breath of fresh air. As you solve a puzzle or beat down a foe, you’ll be seeing things on screen that push the story forward. Thankfully the save points are also distributed quite nicely giving each and every gamer half a chance at every difficulty setting.

The sheer volume of unique gameplay experiences and locations to which you travel to is also astounding. One minute you’ll be playing the sex minigame and the next you’ll be jumping between flying Pegasus’ as you swing your swords wildly. Add on engaging enemies and some of the most extravagant boss battles ever presented in a game and you’ve got action gaming bliss. This time around you’ve also got access to an awesome grappling mechanic as well as some new weapons that mix things up a bit.
