  features
  • As the music plays, players tap the screen, trace rhythmic patterns and keep the beat as the story unfolds on the top screen.
  • Every scene is accompanied by rump-shaking tunes, but players have to keep the Elite Beat Agents grooving. The worse players do, the worse the story might end up.
  • Rhythm games have come and gone, but no one has ever seen anything like the Elite Beat Agents. Whether they’re helping a lost dog find its way home or helping a babysitter charm a hunky football player, no crisis is too weird.
description
In a jam? Well, all these guys DO is jam! Prepare to rock as these beat masters use their groovy moves to save the day.

The public knows of government agencies like the FBI and CIA, but little is known of this super-secret agency. Code-named “Elite Beat Agents,” these men in black are heroes’ heroes and the coolest group of guys this world has ever known. Of course, according to official records, they do not exist.

Their leader, an ex-CIA agent named Commander Kahn, scans the world for cries of help. When he finds one, he dispatches the agents, who assist their targets by performing a song and dance. The hypnotic nature of their rocking revives the targets with “Groovy” energy that boosts their willpower and helps them overcome their obstacles.

Every stage is presented in a storyline fashion. All stages share similar basic elements and game flow: The player gets introduced to the target’s problem in a comical intro. Commander Kahn dispatches the agents to the scene. The agents arrive in a special “Beat Transport” that is tailor-made for the situation. The song starts as the agents and player meet the target. By tapping and tracing patterns that appear on-screen, players play along with the song’s rhythm. The animated story changes depending on how well the player performs. After each section, the player gets judged. Depending on the Elite-o-meter’s judgment, the story will go well or poorly. If the player makes it though the whole song, he or she will be judged on the whole thing and get one of three endings.

if you know elite beat... you know ouendan
good game. if you don't know japanese, it simply doesn't matter. just like elite beat agents only different songs (duh. different countries). anyway, buy it and give play asia money. they deserve it for continuing to stock this bad boy.

Best DS game Besides the sequel
I first tried it on my sister's DS. I loved it so much I got DS of my own Just for it (and EBA+Ouendan 2).

Fun but not as good as Ouendan
It's a fun game and the songs are alright but the one thing I couldn't stand is how the story and characters are kinda lame. The agents for example look lame. I mean come on....secret agents that dance. They try and have a cool westernized look about them but I reckon it looks more stupid and lame than cool.

In comparison in Ouendan 1 & 2 however the characters don't look lame and have a more comedic feel and look to them which PERFECTLY suits the nature of the game.

The gameplay in EBA is still there and it's just as addictive but I found it more irritating to play than Ouendan. Plus since it's in English rather than Japanese it kind of loses that anime feel.

I bought EBA first out of the 3 and it was a blast to play but the issues I mentioned, while may seem ridiculous to mention to some bugged me so much that I sold it on eBay once I finished the game. A while later I bought the Ouendan games and decided to keep them because the songs are all good and I didn't find it irritating to play like I did in EBA.

    I love this.
My boyfriend borrowed me this game to try out and even now, months later, I haven't returned it yet! I love the game. It's fun, addictive, the songs are nice and the stories are awesome! Even though it's in japanese, you don't even have to understand because the interface is so straight to the point and the icons make everything clear enough. My little sister tried it too, and she loved it. I'm definately getting this game soon.

The reason I got a DS in the first place...
I was recommended to buy this game by one of my friends, and it's a purchase I've never regretted. Ouendan has to be the game I've played the most, not to mention enjoyed. I still play it, even several years later. It's a game that really uses the function of the touch screen, it's fun and addictive, and it's extremely easy to learn. It takes a time to master though, which only adds to the fun. First you'll be content with finishing it on normal, then you have to try it on hard... and soon you'll be obsessed with getting S-ranks on insane mode. It happened to me, and it will happen to you too. Buy it, I've never heard of somebody who have disliked this game!
