The graphics of Hotel Dusk are gorgeous in a 2D stylized comic type manner. Everything feels like it fits and looks like it was crafted with each bit of the story in mind. From the quick sketch drawing like characters to the artsy backgrounds, everything feels like a work of art in motion. It’s too bad that the dialogue isn’t voiced but the text does fine. The rest of the audio is very low key and works well with the game but isn’t really anything spectacular to note.
If you like interactive adventure games, noir murder mysteries, and the unique capabilities of the DS then this is a no-brainer purchase.
Pros
- Incredible story and character depth
- Great graphical style
- Fun DS centric gameplay
- Just plain enjoyable
Cons
- Pretty slow pacing
- Text heavy and not for those who don’t like interactive adventure books
