1.0, Introduction

 

The Land of Areulla.

 

Long ago, a race known as the Lycanth controlled Areulla, people that could change themselves into beasts. The Lycanths possessed a highly advanced culture and through it, they created a society of order. With their great physical strength and minds, they managed to accomplish a unique revolution. No one could imagine how they managed to create such a delicate society or how much they excelled in life and their technology due to their ferocious outside appearance. But one day, some of them made use of a technology that they had sealed and many Lycanths were killed in a massacre.

 

The killing was not intentional but this gave the country an opportunity to be split into two and a war known as the "Weremen Battle" began. Right after the battle, the number of Lycanths had diminished and those few that still had control of the continent decided to join the humans. Although Areulla was in a state of disorder with the Lycanth on the brink of extinction, humans managed to establish order and regains control of the country.

 

Humans soon began to take action to eradicate the Lycanth, claiming they will be the race that destroys the world. It is said that they feared the power the Lycanth possessed when they changed into beasts, even though their appearance looks no different from a normal human. Under imperial orders, the Church accuses the Lycanth of heresy and hunted them while the knights prepared themselves in the case of any uprising. The eradication programme known as the "Lycanth Hunt" meant that whoever reported information about any Lycanth they saw, they would be rewarded.

 

One day, one wounded knight reached a village. Little did our young Caius know that he was going to be dragged into the beginning of a new age of chaos in Areulla...

3.0, Characters

 

Caius Qualls

Age 15, Male, Height 165cm

Voice: Motoki Takagi

A young man who lives in a village on the borders of Areulla with his foster father. Being entrusted with a crystal by a Imperial Knight, their village gets attacked by Spots (monsters). After learning that his foster father was a Lycanth (Wereman) during the fight, the villagers suddenly turn cold towards them. As Caius, his foster father and childhood friend Rubia try to escape from the village, they are pursued by the Church's soldiers and Caius' father uses himself to distract them. Now split up, Caius goes on a journey to the capital of Janna to seek for his foster father to learn the secret of his birth and who his true mother and father is.

 

Rubia Natwick

Age 15, Female, Height 155cm

Voice: Mai Kadowaki

A childhood friend of Caius who lives in the same village as him. Both Rubia's parents were priests and working to become noble soldiers, they were planning to go to the capital for training but tragically, both of them are killed by the Prosecutors who arrive to catch Caius' foster father. Rubia goes on a journey after the Prosecutors together with Caius to avenge her parents' deaths.

 

Tilkis Barone

Age 18, Male, Height 178cm

Voice: Takumi Yamasaki

The prince of a small country far outside of the Areullian borders. On his way to Areulla's capital to investigate the reason behind the strange occurrences in his own country, he meets Caius and Rubia. He can handle his great sword with great splendour and he possesses much wisdom, knowing many different things.

 

Forest Ledoyen

Age 45. Male, Height 195cm

Voice: Kenji Nomura

One of the Lycanth's that migrated to Tilkis' small country. As Tilkis' servant, Forest travels around together with him all the time. He is familiar with the geography of the capital's surroundings and situations thus, he acts as a guide durin gthe journey. Due to his reticence, Forest seems to be a bit scary but he's really kind within.

 

Arria Ekberg

Age 18, Female, Height 165cm

Voice: Kae Araki

One of the priests from the Church. Arria has doubts about why the Church is persecuting the Lycanths and has been holding back all the monsters that have been appearing in the capital. Using a staff that is around the same height as herself, she is good at using many techniques.

 

Lukius Bridges

Age 15, Male, Height 165cm

Voice: Mitsuki Saiga

As the Pope's right hand helper, Lukius is responsible for taking command of the soldiers to hunt for Lycanths across Aruella. He wears a mask that symbolises the Heretic Prosecutors so no one knows what he truly looks like.

 

Albert Mueller

Age 20, Male, Height 183cm

Voice: N/A

The captain of the Black Knights who are responsible for the security in Janna, the capital of Areulla. Although he his young, Albert possesses great talent in sword skills but he is not satisfied with the fame he has as a captain.

 

Rommy

Age 15, Female, Height 161cm

Voice: N/A

A young female Prosecutor who hunts Lycanths together with Lukius. Rommy will use whatever measures to achieve her goals whether it means murder or causing destruction. Sometimes she will carry out actions secretly without Lukius knowing. What could she be after?

 

4.0, Menus

Pressing X brings up the following in-game menu:

 

Once you’re in the Techs menu, you can see there’s various button combinations you can use to perform a Technique. Just go ahead and assign the white ones listed towards the bottom. Those in red require you to perform a certain white technique a number of times.

 

By choosing Arrange then choosing the “Organise (編成)” option that appears below it, can rearrange your party order so that you don’t always have to control Caius.

 

For AI tactics, there are 3 main actions you can define; Movement, Target and Moves.

 

(1) Movement; you can choose to leave it to the AI, hold back, be reserved, keep a good balance, be careful or make them treasure their life.

(2) Target; you can have them target enemies freely, same enemy, different enemy, closest enemy, furthest enemy, most dangerous enemy and the weakest enemy.

(3) Moves; you can have them use them freely, go all out, use attack moves only, balanced, save up TP or use them all.

 

Your save file lists the play time, number of encounters, greatest number of hits, number of times a member was knocked out and number of times you ran away.

 

5.0, Camping and Cooking

 

The cooking mini game is very simple. Simply either pick your own ingredients (they have to be part of a recipe that you already have or don’t have) or, choose to use a recipe you’ve already obtained from NPCs. Once the mini game’s started, you’ll have 10 seconds to repeat a certain action. For example, here you have to rub your stylus up and down across the double ended arrow 10 times before the time is up. Other actions include drawing circles. It’s a simple as that!

 

 

There is a certain flow of time in the game although not in real time of course. Generally more powerful monsters appear during the night than the day and you may find some chests lying around in one time period but not the other. Either way, you can use a tent (テント) to camp and your party will rest until night or day depending when you camp. You’ll be able to hear them talk about various things too and not just a quick flash of a campfire scene.

The mystical and illusional Land of Areulla.

 

It has been 100 years since the “Weremen Battle” took place when the Leymon reigned the land.

 

Control has since been taken over by humans and the Leymon have been persecuted across the country.

 

Even Fern, a village on the outskirts of the country was not an exception…

 

Ramrus

Caius, where have you been?

 

Miss Rubia was looking for earlier.

 

She mentioned something about you promising her something?

 

Caius

Uh-oh!

 

I promised her we would go to the forest together today.

 

I forgot all about it…

 

Ramrus

I heard she’s waiting at the church.

 

Go there quickly.

 

Caius

OK…

 

Hey, dad.

 

I want to go with you the next time you’re going out on a business trip…

Ramrus

…No. I can’t take you with me.

 

Caius

I’m 15 now.

We must first have a look at this man’s wounds.

We might be able to save him if we hurry and get him some place safe.

“Lycanth” is the name the citizens of Areulla calls us when they hate us.

 

Lycanth refers to the people of Leymon.

 

Even though we look like humans, we’re people have a special power that allow us to change into weremen.

I was thinking of telling you all this when the time came.

 

I never thought it would turn out this way…

100 years ago during the “Weremen Battle” our land of Leymon was transformed into a desert and now, even our capital of Leymon is in ruins.

 

Our people, the Leymon were scattered and choosing to hide from the people of Areulla, they all lived quietly.

 

But the people of Areulla called us heretics.

 

They began to seek out our homes and capturing us.

 

They were the Heretic Hunters.

 

Caius

Heretic Hunters! That’s going too far! Why did they do that?!

 

Ramrus

The people of Areulla were scared.

 

They were scared of we Leymon who possessed the power of beasts and greater technology than themselves.

Ramrus

It is a sad fact to bear but it is the truth, Caius.

 

Lady Melissa couldn’t escape from the Heretic Hunters.

 

Before she distracted the hunters, she entrusted you to me.

 

Caius

What happened to mother then?

 

Ramrus

…Lady Melissa left us and ran off somewhere far, far away.

 

I’ve been looking for her but I have yet to find her…

 

I don’t want to think about it but, she must have been caught…

 

Caius

Fortunately for us, the priest here, Natwick is against the Heretic Hunters.

 

Only Rubia and her father knows that I am a Leymon.

Each of use Reymon have a birthmark somewhere on our bodies.

 

It is known as the “Zanktu”, proof that we are Reymons.

 

Caius

Ramrus

When you turn into a beast, the Zanktu grows bigger.

 

The Zanktu hasn’t appeared on you yet.

 

I don’t know why but you may not be able to turn into a beast…

 

Your mother Lady Melissa and your father may know why.

 

Caius

When I saved Lady Melissa, your father was already not there.

In the eyes of the Arelluains, we are heretics. They won’t stay quiet about this.

 

Caius

Bu- But you said Rubia’s father is against the Heretic Hunters…

If the Heretic Prosecutor learns of this, even Natwick won’t be able to do anything about this.

 

Caius

No… This can’t happen. I’m sure the villagers will understand too.

 

You saved their village, didn’t you?

 

Ramrus

Caius… Our relation with humans isn’t so simple.

 

I’m sure there will be painful days ahead of you.

 

Caius

…I believe in the villagers.

 

My home village is this place after all.

 

Ramrus

We can only believe in them…

Caius
