Sega thinks the world should be Destroyed!

04.23.08

And you are just the one to do it! In their newly revealed game, titled ambitiously “World Destruction”, you will take on the role of Kyrie who is recruited by a rebel group that wants to destroy the world. Why? Well why not! Well ok the real reason is likely to provide hours of reading text explaining how horrible it is to live life as livestock to the beastmen.

With Masato Kato doing the scenario there is little doubt that we will see an instant classic. From his work story planning in Chrono Trigger to script writing in Xenogears it is clear virtually everything he writes turns to gold. And that isn’t even the only name to drop, they have the composer from Chrono Trigger, Yasunori Mitsuda, doing the music.

The game itself will be presented in 2D/3D DS RPG style. The battle system is akin to Chrono Trigger’s with 3 characters fighting in turn-based battle using battle points to attack with special abilities or combo attacks. X-slash FTW!

No announcement has been made yet on a stateside release, and sega would be crazy not to, but cross fingers till they do just to be safe.

KORG DS-10 Synthesizer?!

03.12.08

I was just about to go to bed when I noticed that I had new RSS feed stuff from GAME Watch. AQ Interactive is releasing the KORG DS-10 Synthesizer in July. KORG is a very popular synthesizer and sequencer company. I grew up in a music store that had a pretty decent sized synth department, so when I saw the big KORG logo, I was immediately intrigued. Very much like a full sized keyboard, you can record tracks using different sounds and mix them all together with a built-in drum machine.

The touch screen is used to do things like input notes and change sound levels. There’s even online WiFi support for multiplayer. According to the official website, this product is being demonstrated at the Musikmesse in Germany this month, which is probably the world’s largest music trade show. And if you’re curious about how it sounds, the official site has a demo song. Pretty cool stuff.

Front Mission 2089

03.03.08

My RSS reader informed me today that Front Mission 2089 Border of Madness is now available for pre-order from the Official Japanese Square Enix store. I’m not a huge fan of giant mechs, but for some reason, Front Mission, Xenogears/Xenosaga, and Evangelion live in my top 20 coolest things EVER category. Anyway, it’s scheduled to release on the Nintendo DS on May 29th, 2008 and it’s a “Dramatic Simulation RPG.” The “dramatic” part amuses me.
