Sony Announces 80GB PS3 Backward Compatibility

Since these new machines, and all machines in Europe, don’t have the PS2 hardware in them and all emulation is done in software, the new PS3’s have much worse backwards compatibility.

Even for big name titles like Gran Turismo 4 there are some serious bugs to deal with:

During network gameplay, the title performs out of sync from other users.

Throughout the Introductory FMV sequence, the FMV plays at approximately 85% of the normal performance speed.

During various Demo FMA sequences, the vehicles do not navigate the track as intended.

Throughout gameplay, extraneous graphics randomly appear at the top-left corner of the screen.
