Japanese XBOX 360 Day 3 - Crashes
12.16.05

Well it seems the Japanese version of the XBOX 360 isn’t immune to the problems of those in the US and Europe as I’ve had it crash on me three times now. Twice during Call of Duty 2 and once during the puzzle game Hexic HD. What’s strange is that it now feels as if this was just a sort of breaking in that the machine needed to do as I haven’t had a crash since, even through a 10 hour session of Call of Duty 2.
As for anything being different in the Japanese version of the machine, there isn’t that much. All I can tell so far in the menus and interface is that the rating displayed next to downloadable games is the Japanese Cero rating system. All demos, trailers, extras, etc that are available through the 360 marketplace are exactly the same.
So besides the region locking on selected titles, different rating displays, and Japanese on the remote control the machines are pretty much Identical. Once the region locking is cracked, hopefully a softmod that disrupts nothing, this version of the 360 might be the most popular among cyber geeks as it costs a measley $330 at retail in Japan.
Watch for Japanese 360 reviews starting late this month.
